Bank Impersonation Scams

This scam involves a criminal impersonating a representative from your bank, claiming there is a problem with your account. The scammer usually urges you to transfer money to a “safe account.”

HMRC and National Insurance Scams

This scam involves a criminal pretending to be someone from HMRC or the National Insurance Office, and during this call they will usually demand an urgent payment for “unpaid taxes” or “National Insurance contributions”.

Investment and Financial Scams


Cryptocurrency Scams

This involves being scammed into fake investment opportunities which promise “risk-free” returns on Bitcoin and crypto trading. This could include being sent an email, text message or even a WhatsApp message.

Doorstep and Face-to-face Scams


Rogue Traders and Fake Energy Discounts

This is where scammers will knock on your door and pretend to be a representative from your energy supplier (i.e. British Gas, Octopus Energy, Scottish Power etc). They will offer you discounts or inform you that urgent repairs are required.

Fake Charity Collectors

For this scam to take place, individuals (scammers) will pose as charity workers asking for a cash donation for a fake cause. The money they collect as donations will, be pocketed and used for their own gain.
