A Lifeline for Jane - Pound Advice

Jane*, a new tenant with L&Q Housing Association, had been struggling with her financial circumstances. She was burdened with debts and needed support for essential household items. As well as this, Jane was grappling with a mental health condition, which was worsened by her financial stress.

Jane took her first step towards financial stability by applying to her Local Authority for help with essential purchases. However, she needed more comprehensive support to address her debts and improve her mental well-being.

This is where Pound Advice, delivered by We Are Group in partnership with L&Q, stepped in to provide her with the much-needed support.

Pound Advice, a free debt and money advice service for L&Q residents, offered Jane a lifeline. We worked with Jane to understand her financial situation, the nature of her debts, and the challenges she was facing due to her mental health condition. Our Agents at Pound Advice were not only financial experts but also trained in understanding and supporting clients with mental health difficulties.

The Agents helped Jane create an effective budgeting plan that accounted for her income, debts, and living expenses. They also offered advice on how to manage her debts, discussing various options such as repayment plans and debt consolidation.

But Pound Advice didn't stop at financial advice. Recognising that Jane's mental health was linked to her financial stress, they also provided her with guidance on managing her mental health. This included directing her to relevant mental health services, including CALM and Mind.

Thanks to Pound Advice, Jane was not only able to navigate her financial troubles but also received support in managing her mental health. The comprehensive approach to her situation ensured Jane was empowered to handle her financial situation confidently, which in turn, positively impacted her mental wellbeing.
